In this intro workshop, you’ll learn the basics of filet crochet: how to read and construct the grid, interpret the filled and empty spaces, and transfer a pattern onto your work in a clear and organised way. Throughout the session, you’ll work with Estefa to create a triangular shawl, practising increases, rhythm and proportions so that the pattern fits harmoniously into the shape.
Filet crochet is a technique with a long history that is making a strong comeback today, and in this workshop it is given a more contemporary and refined approach, where the design and finish make all the difference.
In this workshop, you’ll learn the key techniques to ensure the motif is clearly defined, how to maintain tension so the grid remains crisp, and little tricks that elevate the final result. It’s a hands-on workshop, designed to help you understand the logic behind filet crochet so you can apply it to your own designs later on.
